Uber is in talks with bankers for an initial public offering (no surprise) at a valuation said to be more than $10 billion.
If you’re trying to get your head around how much $10 billion is, think of it this way: Uber quotes a fare of $7,747 to $9,879 to get from New York City (actually, the Bloomberg office) to Santa Monica, California. At the lower end of that, Uber could pick up roughly 80 percent of Manhattanites in individual cars and deposit them on the Pacific coast.
Now that would be a business plan. Only downside: Not everyone wants to cab it to L.A.
