There’s a piece of the final day’s Democratic convention program that will get almost no notice nationally, yet will resonate with local Democrats in Charlotte.
The final day of the program is scheduled to include a memorial tribute to Susan Burgess, who was a member of the city council, the local school board and the Democratic National Committee.
She never missed a chance to promote the city, talk about the latest conference she attended and push the idea of bringing the convention to Charlotte.
In a recent interview with the Charlotte Business Journal, Mayor Anthony Foxx described her as an “Energizer bunny” who relentlessly talked to national Democrats about Charlotte.
Burgess, 64, died of cancer in 2010.
