The Dow added 175.24 points and closed within 90 points of its record. The advance was led by JP Morgan Chase & Co., Caterpillar Inc., and Boeing Co., Bloomberg’s Michael Shanahan and Rita Nazareth reported.
The Dow, a price-weighted average of 30 blue-chip stocks, closed yesterday at its fifth-highest level ever. The Dow closed at a record high of 14,164.53 on October 9, 2007.
