That’s how much Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth grew yesterday.

Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of Facebook Inc., saw his net worth rise to $16.8 billion after the company’s shares “rallied 30 percent to the highest level since May 2012,” Bloomberg’s David De Jong reported.

Zuckerberg, 29, is now the 42nd richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His net worth is up 37 percent year-to-date, De Jong reported.

Zuckerberg has pledged $100 million for public schools in Newark, New Jersey. He has raised money for the U.S. Senate campaign of that city’s mayor, Democrat Cory Booker, and donated $10,400 himself.

Zuckerberg has donated to Facebook’s political action committee, which formed in 2011 to boost the company’s profile in Washington. Facebook’s PAC divided its political contributions this year about evenly between Democrats and Republicans, Bloomberg’s Political Capital reported earlier this month.
