Aaron Alexis, the gunman who killed 12 people at Washington’s Navy Yard last week, is seen sneaking through Building 197 with a shotgun in a video published by the FBI today.
The 30-second YouTube video, recorded by closed-circuit video cameras, shows Alexis driving into a Navy Yard parking garage, gaining entrance to the building and creeping through the halls with a Remington 870 shotgun.
The FBI also released photos of etchings on Alexis’ shotgun that read, “End to the torment!” “Better off this way!” ”Not what yall say!” and ”My ELF weapon!”
Alexis used the shotgun and a Beretta handgun on Sept. 16 to kill 12 people and wound four others before being shot dead by police.
Alexis believed he was under the control of extremely low frequency electromagnetic waves, the FBI said today. Bloomberg’s Laurie Asseo and David Lerman have the story here.
“The etching of ‘My ELF weapon!’ on the left side of the receiver of the Remington 870 shotgun is believed to reference these electromagnetic waves,” according to a statement released at a news conference today.
