John Kasich, governor of Ohio, had a thought today about the way his party conducts presidential debates.
The Republicans should “end the stupid way we conduct presidential debates,” he said at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“Hell, yeah,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry called out to laughter.
It was Perry who famously couldn’t remember the third of the three federal agencies he would disband in one of the many televised debates his party conducted for the 2012 presidential nomination. The Republican National Committee is proposing far fewer debates in the next election cycle.
Perry, who has announced he will not seek re-election in Texas, hasn’t made clear his plans for another presidential campaign in 2016.
But he made his debate preferences clear today.
