Miley Cyrus was working the Hill today.
In absentia, we should note.
When it comes to authorizing in-flight cell phone calls on the nation’s airlines, the House Transportation Committee wants the American public to understand the implications.
So the communications staff of Chairman Rep. Bill Shuster’s committee has produced and posted a Buzzfeed.com “listicle” entitled: “Top 10 Phone Conversations You Really Don’t Want to Hear on a Plane.”
That includes “the latest thrilling celebrity gossip,” awkward flights for significant others, someone just extremely loud, etc.
To illustrate their opposition to a possible FCC decision permitting in-flight cell-phoning, they brought GIFs of singer Miley Cyrus, World Wrestling Entertainment’s Vince McMahon and puppies to the table.
“Point is, talking on cell phones on planes is simply a terrible idea,” the staffers wrote. “Support the Transportation Committee and ban in-flight cell phone calls.”
For more on the FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s intentions, see Bloomberg’s Todd Shields reporting on Congress saying no while FCC set to go. And yes, this was the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s first official Buzzfeed posting.
