“One of the regrets I have about my public life is, I can’t drive anymore,” Hillary Clinton said today in an address to auto-dealers in New Orleans. “My husband thinks that’s a blessing, but he’s the one who should talk .”
“Last time I actually drove a car myself, it was 1996, and I remember it very well,” she said, “and unfortunately so does the Secret Service, which is why I haven’t driven since then.”
She did credit General Motors’ new female CEO, Mary Barra, for breaking that “steel ceiling.” But Clinton is leaving the driving to GM.
And if the former first lady, senator from New York and secretary of state has her way in 2016, she won’t be driving again for a long time.
