You love Chris Christie.
Now you can glom on to his American flag bling.
That’s the message of a letter e-mailed to supporters by the New Jersey Republican State Committee, which today praised Christie, a potential 2016 candidate for president, for “outstanding leadership” on taxes and public-pensions and benefits changes.
Then along came “the liberal media” and the Democratic-dominated state legislature to focus attention on four days of tie-ups at the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, where commuters, school buses and emergency vehicles were gridlocked for four hours or more each morning.
E-mails published on Jan. 8 showed Bridget Anne Kelly, a Christie aide, and David Wildstein, an executive of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the bridge, teamed up in August for “traffic problems in Fort Lee,” where the Democratic mayor hadn’t endorsed Christie for a second term in November.
“It’s time to stand up to MSNBC, the liberal media and their attacks,” the committee letter states.
Donors who contribute $25 a month will get a thank-you: `Th very same pin you see Governor Christie wearing during his public appearances.”
The governor’s campaign, Chris Christie For Governor Inc., yesterday won approval from the state Election Law Enforcement Commission to use campaign funds for legal bills related to the probes of the bridge mess by a legislative panel and the U.S Attorney General’s Office.
The Republican State Committee, also subpoenaed, will have bills of its own.
