Consumers who access mobile websites related to restaurants, travel and cars are often close to making a purchase, a survey from Nielsen found.
Some 87 percent of users searching for restaurants on their mobile phones and tablets planned to make a purchasing decision the same day, according to Nielsen. For those looking at travel sites, it was 33 percent. In the car category, 49 percent intended to complete the transaction within the day.
The three categories rank among the top markets expected to show major mobile growth in the next three to five years, said Nielsen.
The findings are based on an online survey of 1,500 U.S. smartphone and tablet users in June and observations of consumer behavior of 6,000 Apple and Google Android users. The study was commissioned by xAd, a mobile-local advertising network, and Telmetrics, a mobile call measurement provider.
