At the Sheraton New York Hotel on 7th Avenue in Manhattan, investors killed time on their BlackBerrys and iPads while in line for a presentation by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other executives (first photo).
They waited to hear a pitch on why they should invest in the company’s initial public offering. The line started around 11:15 a.m., snaking through the Sheraton’s lobby and around the side of the building, as TV cameras awaited the arrival of executives (second photo).
Upstairs they sorted themselves by company name and had to present their photo ID and business cards to be checked off a list (third photo). Some weren’t allowed to enter.
