Australia began 2023 with a sense of cohesion in its climate politics and policies that hasn’t been seen for decades. A recently legislated emissions reduction target of 43% below 2005 levels by 2030, and net zero by 2050, means Australia is now truly on a pathway towards national decarbonisation. New policies and improvements in low-carbon technologies will play a role — but will they be enough to get Australia to where it wants to be?
Join us for BNEF’s inaugural Sydney Forum where we will bring together our analysts, clients and key stakeholders to discuss the risk and opportunities in the low-carbon transition, what it could look like and what else needs to be done. BloombergNEF will present our global and local findings from our New Energy Outlook, BNEF’s long-term scenario analysis on the future of the energy economy covering power, transport, industry, and emerging technologies.
In the second part of the Forum, we will present research and host a panel on a new area of importance for BloombergNEF – biodiversity. This section will cover topics like biodiversity markets and finance, nature reporting and the land challenges that come with a decarbonising world.
