Eli M. Remolona Jr., PhD
Dr. Eli Remolona is the seventh Governor of the BSP and Chairman of the Monetary Board.
Governor Remolona has extensive policy and operational experience on monetary policy and international finance, having worked for 19 years at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and 14 years for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
From 2019 to 2022, Governor Remolona served as professor of finance and director of central banking at the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur. He also taught at Williams College, Columbia University, New York University, and the University of the Philippines-School of Economics.
Before his appointment to the Monetary Board in 2022, Governor Remolona served as independent director of a Universal Bank and chairman of its risk management committee.
He earned his PhD in Economics with distinction from Stanford University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Economics with honors from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Euben Paracuelles
Euben joined Nomura in February 2010 and is based in Singapore, heading a team of economists covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Prior to that, Euben worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland, and before that he was at Credit Suisse and DBS Bank, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Euben is frequently quoted in the media and has been a recipient of various awards in economic forecasting accuracy and top research rankings for the region. Euben has an Advanced Certificate in International Economics from the Kiel Institute for World Economics in Germany, an M.Sc. (Economics) from the National University of Singapore and a B.Sc. (Business Economics) from the University of the Philippines.
Leo Tay
Mr Leo Tay is a Head of FX Rates and Derivatives Trading with ING Bank in Singapore. He leads a team of FX, swaps, NDFs, and options traders based in 5 locations, and oversees Asian trading activities in London. He is also responsible for eFX trading and the electronification of the Asian FX business.
Mr Tay holds an MSc in Financial Mathematics from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany and BSc/BA in Management Engineering and Economics Honours from the Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.
Emilio S. Neri Jr.
Prior to his appointment as Lead Economist at Bank of the Philippine Islands, our speaker served as economics and banking sector analyst for a former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas – Monetary Board Member. He was a consultant at the Asian Development Bank; taught monetary and fiscal economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Economic Society. The Research Team led by our speaker consistently ranks at the top of survey for analysts conducted by Bloomberg, Asiamoney and The Asset. He was voted as the #1 best equities economist in the Philippines in 2018 in a poll conducted by the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines, being the first economist from a local bank to top the ranking. Our speaker was also ranked #1 among local economists by the Department of Finance as having the most accurate gross domestic product (GDP) growth projections from 2016 to 2018. The Asset Benchmark Research also recently recognized him as the Philippines’ best local currency bond individual in Research for 2018, with the award also being topped by a local bank for the first time.
Tamara Mast Henderson, PhD, CFA
Tamara is Bloomberg’s Economist for Southeast Asia. She has over 25 years experience covering the mature economies and emerging markets of Europe and Asia. In previous roles, Tamara was deputy head of the International Monetary Fund’s Investment Unit in Washington, DC. She also led ANZ Banking Group’s Asian currency and rates strategy team in Singapore.
Tamara has MA and PhD degrees in Economics from Claremont Graduate University (USA) and a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs and Economics from the University of Virginia (USA). She is a CFA Charterholder and the author of Fixed Income Strategy: A Practitioner’s Guide to Riding the Curve, published by Wiley & Sons.
Rena Kwok
Rena Kwok is a Senior Credit Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence specializing in banks and non-banks in Asia. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Rena has acquired years of experience in the regulatory and front-line corporate lending aspects of credit under the large local banks in Singapore, OCBC and UOB. She has knowledge in Basel Risk and credit risk analysis. Her industry expertise spans across banks, real estate, wholesale, and retail sectors.
Rena earned her bachelor’s degree (2nd Upper Honors) in Finance from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She is a CFA charterholder and has obtained certificate in ESG investing by CFA Institute.
