Odd Lots is hosting its first-ever live event on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the WNYC Greene Space. Join hosts Tracy Alloway and Joe Weisenthal for The Odd Lots Variety Show, a not-so-random walk through hot topics in markets, finance, and economics.

The event will feature an all-star lineup of guests talking about everything from the latest market trends to white collar fraud. Don’t miss some financially themed live music and the chance to ask Joe and Tracy what’s in store for the economy for the rest of 2019. Some surprise guests will also be dropping by; you won’t want to miss it!

Sam Antar is a convicted felon and a former CPA. As the CFO of Crazy Eddie, Mr. Antar helped mastermind one of the largest securities frauds uncovered during the 1980s. Today, Sam Antar is a forensic accountant. His primary work focuses on identifying and investigating public companies engaged in securities fraud by performing an in-depth (deep-dive) forensic analysis. He advises law enforcement agencies and professionals about white-collar crime and trains them to catch the crooks.

He serves as an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh Law School and as a Non-resident Fellow at the Columbia University Law School.

Professor Kelton has worked in both academia and politics. She served as chief economist on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee (Democratic staff) in 2015 and as a senior economic adviser to Bernie Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns. She currently works as a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Stony Brook University, and she holds Visiting Professorships at The New School for Social Research, the University of Ljubljana, and the University of Adelaide. She is a member of the TopWonks network of the nation’s best thinkers and one of POLITICO’s 50 Most Influential Thinkers (2016). She was previously Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Brad W. Setser is the Steven A. Tananbaum senior fellow for international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations. His expertise includes macroeconomics, global capital flows, financial vulnerability analysis, sovereign debt restructuring, and the management of financial crises. He is the author of Sovereign Wealth and Sovereign Power (CFR, 2008) and the coauthor, with Nouriel Roubini, of Bailouts and Bail-ins: Responding to Financial Crises in Emerging Economies (Peterson Institute, 2004), which draws lessons from emerging market financial crises between 1995 and 2003. His work has been published in Foreign Affairs, Finance and Development, Global Governance and Georgetown Journal of International Law, among others. He regularly blogs at Follow the Money.

Based in Nashville, he plays and write songs, including “(Gimme Some of That) Ol’ Atonal Music”, which New Yorker music critic, Alex Ross, called 2019’s song of the year.
