Please join Bloomberg as we host a discussion on the key challenges for companies when gathering data and deciding what to report. Our moderated panel will represent corporations, investors, standard setters and consultants and cover what investors want to know, and how corporations can ensure their company is addressing the right data/issues.

With the beautiful backdrop of the Skirball Cultural Center, this event offers a unique opportunity to network with an audience representing stakeholders from corporations, asset owners and investment managers insuring a healthy conversation and valuable content.

Laurel is a Senior Manager of Sustainability for NRG Energy, a company at the forefront of changing how people think about and use energy. Laurel supports strategy creation and execution of company-wide sustainability initiatives. In this role, she also leads all voluntary sustainability reporting processes to foster industry leadership and create shareholder value while transforming NRG into the nation’s leading provider of affordable, safe, reliable and cleaner energy. Laurel is co-chair of the Voluntary Reporting Working Group within the Electricity Producers Research Institute’s Energy Sustainability Interest Group, and represents NRG in the SASB Alliance, GRI GOLD Community and CDP stakeholder networks.

Brian is responsible for representing RBC Global’s investment strategies to various financial intermediaries including, wealth management, corporations and family office investment platforms in the western United States. Brian joined RBC GAM-US in 2015 from F-Squared Investments where he was a senior vice president and regional director. He started his career in the financial services industry in 2000 and has worked for Merrill Lynch, iShares, BlackRock and registered investment advisory firms. He earned a BA in international relations from the University of Virginia and holds FINRA Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 securities licenses. He is also registered as an Associated Person and Branch Manager with the National Futures Association.

Marina is a Principal and senior investment consultant at Mercer in Los Angeles where she has extensive institutional investment experience in advising committees on setting investment strategy, determining investment structure and implementing solutions based on client specific objectives. She is also a member of Mercer’s ESG Strategic Research Committee.

Prior to joining Mercer in 2000, Marina worked at GIO Australia, and was responsible for quantitative analysis, recommending tactical and strategic asset allocation for diversified funds, and performance measurement. Marina is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and the Society of Actuaries in the US. She is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a CFA Charterholder.

Sonal has over two decades of experience in sustainability metrics development and assessment, thought leadership, and relationship management. As Technical Director, Sonal plays a key role in the systematic evaluation and analysis of Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) industry-specific sustainability accounting standards for each of 11 sectors and 79 industries in the Sustainable Industry Classification System.

Previously in leadership positions at Facebook and Conservation International. Sonal has driven the development of goals and comprehensive sustainability strategies across a range of industries. At Conservation International, she oversaw the Business and Sustainability Council, a forum for corporate leaders taking positive environmental actions in their businesses. She also served as a subject matter expert and advisor for the GHG Protocol and Natural Capital Coalition.
