Overview
Investors tend to underreact to earnings announcements, resulting in stock prices gradually moving in the direction of the initial surprise—a phenomenon known as post-earnings announcement drift (PEAD).
Although PEAD appears to have diminished in developed markets, it remains a profitable strategy in emerging markets. Moreover, it seems to offer a higher risk-reward profile than other commonly replicated factor strategies such as value, price momentum, and low volatility.
Join us as we assess the robustness of the PEAD strategy and demonstrate how it can be implemented within your factor analysis and portfolio construction process using BQuant, Bloomberg’s Python-based data science and research platform.
We’ll also dive into the key post-earnings challenges analysts face—and reveal how Bloomberg’s powerful Terminal tools can cut through the noise, accelerate your workflow, and elevate your insights when timing matters most.
