Government of India

Nitin Jairam Gadkari is the Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Water Resources in the Government of India. He served as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 2010 to 2013. As the Public Works Department minister in the state of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999, he oversaw the state-wide construction of a series of vital roads, highways and flyovers, including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Mr. Gadkari is also an agriculturist with an interest in the fields of water management and solar energy. He holds a M.Com, LLB from the University of Nagpur, and a Diploma in Business Management (DBM).

Kumar Mangalam Birla is the chairman of the US $44.3 billion multinational Aditya Birla Group, which includes India’s largest cement maker and the world’s biggest producer of aluminium flat-rolled products. Mr. Birla took over as Chairman of the Group in 1995, at the age of 28, and in the process has raised the Group’s turnover from US $2 billion in 1995, to US $43 billion through an acquisitive model. A commerce graduate from Mumbai University, Mr. Birla is a Chartered Accountant and has earned an MBA from the London Business School.

Arijit Basu oversees the stressed assets resolution group at State Bank of India, in addition to handling commercial credit and IT. He was MD and CEO of SBI Life Insurance Company from August 2014 to March 2018 and the company was successfully listed during his tenure. He has held other key roles at SBI including chief general manager of the Delhi circle and regional head & CEO of its Japan operations. Mr Basu started his career with the bank almost 35 years ago as a probationary officer. He has studied economics and history and is also a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

Rahul Chawla joined Deutsche Bank in 2014 from Credit Suisse, where was in charge of the Financing business in India including capital markets, product origination execution and delivery, structured lending and equity-linked derivatives. Across Credit Suisse and Deutshe Bank, Mr Chawla has closed trades with a total value upwards of $5 billion in funding raised spread across sectors including real estate, infrastructure, construction, renewable energy, retail and commodities. He holds a masters degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

Vinayak Bahuguna is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Limited since June 2015. Mr. Bahuguna served as an Executive at Standard Chartered Bank. He has over a decade’s experience in dealing with distressed assets. He began his career with ANZ Grindlays in 1987 and later moved to Standard Chartered Bank in 1998.  He quit StanChart in 2012, following which he started an independent consulting firm Vie Capital, which advises companies in financial distress. He is also a Chartered Accountant, and an alumni of Shri Ram College of Commerce. He also captained the cricket team at SRCC.

Peter T. Grauer is chairman of Bloomberg, the global financial technology company that was founded in 1981. He has been a member of the Bloomberg Board of Directors since October 1996 and was named chairman of the board in March 2001, succeeding Michael R. Bloomberg.  Mr. Grauer joined Bloomberg full time as chairman, president and CEO in March 2002.  Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr. Grauer was a managing director of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette from 1992 to 2000 when DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston.  He is a founder of DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and DLJ Investment Partners and had also served as a managing director and senior partner of CSFB Private Equity.

Mr. Grauer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Harvard University Graduate School of Business, Program for Management Development.  Mr. Grauer serves as lead director of DaVita Health Care Partners, Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a healthcare services company based in Colorado.  He is a member of the Business Council and McKinsey Advisory Council. He is also a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum and serves on its Media, Entertainment and Information, Financial Services and Gender Parity Board of Governors. He is founding Chairman of the Community of Chairmen at the World Economic Forum.

Haslinda Amin is Chief International Correspondent for Southeast Asia and anchor for Bloomberg Television. She is also host and Executive Producer of talk show ‘High Flyers’ which is the longest-running program on Bloomberg TV. Based in Singapore, Amin has been at the heart of market-moving news and stories that have driven the region’s transformation. She has reported on major events including the 2008 financial crisis, the 2016 Jakarta attacks and the 2010 bloody anti-government clashes in Thailand. Amin has also helmed Bloomberg’s coverage of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, the World Economic Forum and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Board of Governors Meeting.

Ms Amin has interviewed a wide range of top newsmakers for Bloomberg Television, including Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew, Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Bill English and former Thai Premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Other notable interviews include Paul Volcker, Joe Biden, Timothy Geithner and Stanley Fischer. She began her career covering Southeast Asian politics more than a decade ago. She serves on the board of UN Women Singapore and has been nominated numerous times for Best Current Affairs Anchor at the Asian TV Awards. She graduated from the National University of Singapore, majoring in Political Science and English Language. She speaks Bahasa Indonesia.

Previously, Harsha oversaw CNBC-TV18’s primetime programming and co-hosted its most-watched daily business news show ‘India Business Hour’ Harsha graduated from Madras University. He holds an MBA degree and received training from the Asian College of Journalism. He is based in Mumbai, India.
