Bloomberg, Cornell Tech, and Tech:NYC invite you to join us for the latest installment of the Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg Speaker Series, featuring Carolyn Childers, CEO and Co-founder of Chief, in conversation with Scarlet Fu of Bloomberg Television.
Only 6.6 percent of the companies on this year’s Fortune 500 list had female CEOs. Carolyn Childers co-founded Chief to address this gender disparity in executive leadership by providing women with the support and connections to help them advance in their careers. A private network for rising vice presidents to C-level executives, Chief offers its members mentorship opportunities, coaching sessions, events, and other resources, including access to a members-only clubhouse in TriBeCa.
Since its launch in January of 2019, Chief has grown to include 1,500 members, who represent 1,000 companies, such as Apple, Nike, Amazon, and Google. It has another 7,000 women on its membership waitlist. It raised $22 million in a Series A round led by General Catalyst and Inspired Capital and, this spring, Chief plans to open a new five-story, 20,000-square foot location in the Flatiron district.
We hope you’ll join us for this conversation, in which Childers and Fu will discuss Chief’s mission and rapid growth, how running operations at Handy and working in venture capital prepared Childers to launch the organization, why its exclusive membership is also open to men, and what we can all do to help more women reach the C-suite.

Carolyn Childers
Carolyn Childers is the Co-founder and CEO of Chief, the private network built to drive more women into positions of power and keep them there. She is an experienced leader and operator, having successfully scaled several early-stage businesses. Prior to founding Chief, Carolyn was SVP of Operations at Handy, led the launch of the site Soap.com (Quidsi) and acted as its GM through its acquisition by Amazon. Carolyn is now focusing her energy and experience on tackling the imbalance of professional power and create lasting change from the top-down, landing her on Inc.’s 2019 Female Founders 100 List.
