Advancing Women

At Bloomberg, we are committed to the advancement of women all year-round, from cultivating a culture of inclusion to promoting gender equality around the world. Beyond Women’s Month in South Africa, Bloomberg also hosts a number of strategic initiatives to support women in the workplace, and around the world.

Bloomberg News has made significant strides to increase the representation of women in both online and on-air content through its New Voices initiative. Since its launch in 2018, the program has created a comprehensive global list of women experts in finance and business, implemented a system to track diverse sourcing, and provided media training for top women executives and other underrepresented voices.

Outside of the workplace, Bloomberg Philanthropies’ global initiatives, such as the Women’s Economic Development Initiative, underscore the belief that women are crucial to economic growth. By partnering with governments, nonprofits, and the private sector, this initiative creates opportunities for women to achieve economic independence. Since 2007, more than 745,000 women have enrolled in training and education programs across Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Women’s Economic Development Initiative, directly benefiting 2.98 million of their children and family members. These investments have shown an increase in women deciding to educate their children, purchase health insurance, actively participate in local and national elections, and more.
